The probability of ECB's rate hike by June 2019 has risen following hawkish comments by central bank officials, hinting that the idea of tightening monetary policy is still on track. Interest rates hike probability rose by about 70 percent from 50 percent by the beginning of the week.
Peter Praet, chief economist at the European Central Bank, said that bank officials were increasingly confident inflation would rise again towards the target and that the bank would discuss next week whether it would gradually begin to cut its monetary stimulus program.
