China leaves the door opened for talks with US

China's Foreign Ministry said in principle the door is opened to talks with the United States on trade after a day China warned that any trade deals would be void if the United States applied tariffs.

The United States and China have threatened to impose tariffs of up to $150 billion on each other. Donald Trump, the US president, wants to tackle the huge trade deficit with China.

Both China and the United States ended the last round of negotiations yesterday without a public statement from the US delegation. China has not announced any new agreements but has warned that any tariff and other trade measures by the United States would impede any agreement.
