US crude inventories decreased during the previous week

US crude oil inventories for the week ended September 22 fell by 1.8 million barrels, in contrast to expectations of an increase of 2.9 million barrels after rising by 4.6 million barrels in the previous week.

The average oil refinery input was about 16.2 million barrels per day during the week ending September 22, while US crude oil imports were more than 7.4 million bpd, up by 59,000 barrels from the previous week.

Total commercial oil inventories fell by 5.1 million barrels last week. The total number of products supplied during the past four weeks was averaged by 20.3 million barrels, an increase of 1.3% over the same period last year.
