Theresa May is heading to Japan to calm fears of Brexit

30 Aug 2017 11:02 AM

Today, British Prime Minister Theresa May will arrive in Japan for trade talks. The trip is scheduled to last for three days and will be accompanied by the Minister of International Trade and a delegation of business leaders from a range of sectors.
They will be keen to show their enthusiasm for new trade deals with Japan, but the UK will not be able to sign any trade deal until it leaves the EU and this will not be soon.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will seek assurances from Theresa May that Brexit will not hurt Japanese companies in the UK. Japan also wants to know how to reconcile Britain's relationship with the EU after the EU's departure.
